What we don't do
We do not sell your data. We do not share your contact information with third parties for their marketing.
Communication & Consent Preferences
When you join VCN we ask you to make choices about how we contact you and how your information may be used. To keep the experience simple, most consents default to on — the one exception is AI training opt-in, which always defaults to off and requires your explicit action before any of your data may be used to train AI models.
The consent categories we track are:
- Email communication — program updates, event invitations, and newsletters.
- SMS communication — occasional text messages about events, deadlines, or account activity.
- Data sharing with partners — sharing limited profile information with VCN partner organizations you have engaged with.
- AI tool usage — allowing VCN's AI assistants to help you inside the platform (recommendations, summaries, etc.).
- AI training opt-in — off by default. Allows aggregated, de-identified data to be used to improve AI models. Never on without your explicit consent.
- Media release — permission to use event photos, video, or quotes that include you.
- Resume sharing with recruiters — makes your resume visible to vetted recruiters on the platform.
- Recruiter visibility — lets recruiters find your profile in search.
- Analytics & cookies — anonymous usage analytics that help us improve the site.
You can view, change, or revoke any consent at any time under Account settings → Privacy & consent. Changes take effect immediately and every change is recorded to an append-only history so we can prove what you agreed to and when.
Access, correction, export & deletion requests
You have the right to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, export it, or ask us to delete it. Submit a request from Account settings → Data subject requests, choose the request type (access, correction, export, or deletion), and describe what you need. A privacy administrator will review and respond, and every request is tracked end-to-end.
